Not during pregnancy or if you want to get pregnant. If you use lithium or other blood sugar lowering medicines, your doctor takes an extra look.
Building up calmly
Start low, fewer side effects
You start on the lowest dose and build up step by step. That gives your body time to get used to it. Your doctor sets the pace, together with you.

In the first 4 weeks your body gets used to the medicine. This dose is not yet meant as maintenance.
2Building up5 mg
Going well? Then your doctor increases to 5 mg after at least 4 weeks.
3Building up further7.5 to 12.5 mg
Each time after at least 4 weeks a step of 2.5 mg can follow, only if it is going well.
4Maintenance5 to 15 mg
You stay on the dose that works for you. Higher is not always better.

Step by step
How to use your pen
This is how the pen works according to the instructions for use. With your first delivery our pharmacist also explains it personally.

Pull the cap straight off
Pull the cap straight off the pen. Wipe the red seal clean with an alcohol swab.

Attach a new needle
Remove the paper tab from the needle. Push it straight onto the pen and screw it on firmly.

Remove both needle caps
First the outer cap, which you keep. Then the inner cap, which you can throw away.

Prime the pen
Turn to 2 clicks, hold the needle up, press the button and count to 5. A small drop comes out.

Set your dose
Turn the button until it stops. The window shows a 1. That is your full dose.

Press the button
Press the button until it stops and slowly count to 5. The window shows 0 again.
07
Needle off, cap on
Outer cap back on the needle, unscrew the needle and put the cap back on the pen.

Storage
After first use, the Mounjaro KwikPen can be kept outside the fridge for a total of 30 days, at a temperature below 30 °C. After that, the pen must be thrown away.
